British Council in partnership with Opera Sky and support of Khazar University Film and Animation School are pleased to announce the registration on two training organised for Azerbaijani DJs and composers. The British Council always strives to bring the best from the modern UK to Azerbaijan so that Azerbaijani audiences and participants have another opportunity to enjoy the cutting edge audio and visual performance from modern Britain.
DJ training - The training will be run by Alex Phountzi from the UK, who represents Point Blank Music School, an award-winning music production and DJ-ing school based in London. Alex will be running music production workshops, introducing the concepts of mixing and making music. He’ll be looking at recording audio, using MIDI, basic music theory and more.
VJ training - The training will be run by Kelly Bugde who is a founder of Your Mom Visual based in London. Kelly will be running workshops, introducing the concepts of mixing and making images.
About the training
- Training will be held on 11- 15 August at 10:00- 17:00 hours
- DJ training will be held at Opera Sky in Baku
- DJs and composers of electronic music are welcome to register for training
- VJ training will be held at Film and Animation studio at Khazar University
- VJ training participants who can work on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Flash programme are also welcome to register for training
- Closing date for registration is 4 August 2014

Alex Phountzi biography
- DJ Alex Phountzi from Point Blank Music School with over ten years experience as a producer, musician and DJ, Alex Phountzi (NameBrandSound/Greenmoney) was one of the original and founding members of West London collective, ‘Bugz In The Attic’. The Bugz In The Attic remix discography includes the likes of Amy Winehouse, Roisin Murphy, 4Hero, Fela Kuti, Blue Note Records and many more. Over the last year Alex has teamed up with legendary London soundman, IG Culture, to form a new project called NameBrandSound.
Kelly Budge biography
- VJ Kelly from Your Mum Visuals, began her creative journey as a graphic designer. She discovered the world of audio visuals In 1998 and began experimenting with 16mm film loops, 35mm slide and video projections. Kelly has made VJ appearances at countless festivals worldwide and events such as Red Bull Thre3style (UK). Bands she has collaborated with include Groove Armada, Nitin Sawhney, Tony Allen, Ben Watt (EBTG), Thievery Corporation, and DJs such as Robert Miles, Mylo, Aphex Twin, Howie B, DJ storm, and many more.
